Lungs for Living Reception

Lungs for Living Reception

At a Reception on Thursday 10th December, Journalist Robert Peston joined UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation to mark the opening of the newly refurbished Lungs for Living Research Centre.

More than 45 people attended the event to hear first hand from the researchers who work there, and to listen to speeches from acclaimed journalist Mr Robert Peston; head of the Lungs for Living Research Centre Professor Sam Janes; and Dr Christopher Moran, our Chairman.

Following the speeches, guests were offered the unique opportunity to attend tours led by the scientists and clinicians who work for Lungs for Living. Gathering inside the different lab spaces, guests were able to look at cells under the microscope, examine state-of-the-art equipment, and watch videos of medical procedures.  These tours helped guests to understand the ground breaking research which is being carried out at the Research Centre and what the future implications might be for lung cancer treatments.

The laboratory refurbishment was funded in part by an appeal led by UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation.  We would like to thank everyone who has supported this project.  The Research Centre will pioneer new treatments for lung cancer in coming years, and UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation will continue to support the cutting edge research of Professor Janes and his team into the future.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all of you who have supported this amazing project.
