Marathon runner secures Guinness World Record

Marathon runner secures Guinness World Record

On the 13th April 2014 Adam Giangreco broke a Guinness World Record for the ‘fastest Marathon dressed as a human organ’.

Adam ran the marathon to raise money for Lungs for Living, the only fundraising project in London that raises money exclusively for new research into the causes and treatments of lung cancer. Adam runs a research group and is a Principle Investigator for the Lungs for Living Research Centre, where they are trying to discover new ways to detect lung cancer earlier and develop new treatments for people with the disease.

Lung cancer is the biggest cancer killer worldwide, with more deaths than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined. Sadly, this extremely high death rate is not matched by funding from most major charities, and so Professor Sam Janes and Adam founded Lungs for Living to try and raise more funds specifically for lung cancer research.

Completing the marathon in a incredible 3 hours, 36 minutes and 42 seconds, Adam has raised more than £3,500 to go towards Lungs for Living. We are hugely grateful to Adam for his incredible support.
